Henry Ezike - Chairma

Born in the heart of Biafra during the turbulence of the Nigerian-Biafran War, Henry Chukwuma Ezike’s life began in a time of chaos and uncertainty. This war was more than a battle for political power—it was a human tragedy that tore families apart, silenced starving children, and transformed once-thriving towns into landscapes of loss. Yet, amid the devastation, a profound strength emerged: community. In refugee camps, strangers became family, bound not just by shared suffering but by an unyielding determination to survive. Mothers stretched meager pots to feed not just their own children but any child in need. Fathers shared their last handful of garri, refusing to let despair define them.

It was in this spirit of resilience—this quiet, unwavering defiance of hardship—that Henry’s story began. His earliest memories were not of comfort, but of struggle, displacement, and the extraordinary power of human connection. In the midst of destruction, his path was forged—one of endurance, sacrifice, and an unshakable sense of purpose.

After the war, Henry’s family resettled in Onitsha, a bustling city pulsing with the determination of a people reclaiming their future. Despite hardship, there was a deep sense of unity, of neighbours who became family and a city that breathed hope. It was in this spirit that a pivotal decision was made at the tender age of nine, Henry left home to live with his uncle—a university lecturer—so he could pursue a better education. The move, while necessary, was difficult. It meant leaving the warmth of familiar faces and stepping into an environment of structure, expectation, and solitude.

But in that solitude, Henry found something powerful: love of humanity and discipline. In the quiet hours of study and the long walks to school, he cultivated an inner strength that would carry him far beyond the borders of Onitsha.
Years later, Henry earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and completed his national youth service corps in Northern Nigeria (Kano state). His thirst for knowledge and growth eventually led him across continents. In 1996, he arrived in the United Kingdom, a new land with new opportunities. There, he earned a Master’s in Internet Engineering and later an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David—transforming himself into a bridge between technology and business. Over the next two decades, Henry built a thriving career in leadership and Information Technology, championing smarter ways of working and using digital solutions to boost productivity.
But Henry’s story isn’t just about success in the boardroom. At its heart, it’s about people. For him, the most meaningful legacy is not a project completed, or a system upgraded—it’s the lives he touches. Whether mentoring young professionals and new arrivals to United Kingdom or guiding his two sons, Henry is driven by a simple truth: every young person deserves a hand to lift them up (mentor or a coach), the way he once longed for. He dreams of one day creating a structured mentoring program to fill that gap—to be the voice, the presence, the guide that he once needed.
In 2018, Henry and his family moved to Essex, drawn by its strong schools and community spirit. The change was transformative—not just for his children, who thrived academically and socially—but for Henry, who found new avenues to connect and give back. From engaging in village life to participating in the Over 50s Black Men’s Forum, he embraced his new environment with the same passion he has shown throughout his life.
Today, Henry Chukwuma Ezike stands not only as a professional with decades of experience but as a storyteller, Mentor, a community-builder, and a living testament to the enduring power of education, mentorship, and resilience. His life reminds us that even from the ruins of war, greatness can rise—and that the truest success lies in the lives we uplift along the way.
